Travel Information for NW MontanaGlacier National Park is open year-round, 24 hours a day. Due to seasonal weather conditions, some roads are inaccessible by car and remain closed throughout the winter. Seasonal updates to be provided. Going to the Sun Road open! Wildfires cause travel problemHighway 89 is closed from Cut Bank Creek to Babb as a result of the fire burning in Glacier National Park. The blaze, estimated at 750 acres this morning, is now at an unknown size. Park officials said Saturday that large amounts of smoke have prevented spotter planes from being able to accurately estimate the size of the fire. See more... Breaking news about this fire, go here. U.S./Canadian border. U.S. Highway 2 provides access to the park from the
east and west. The closest airport is in Kalispell (Glacier Park
International Airport), which is approx. 25 miles west of West Glacier's
park headquarters. Great Falls, MT lies 200 miles east of Glacier and
Missoula airport is 156 miles south. Car rentals are available at all
airports and shuttles are available from Kalispell airport. Amtrak makes
regular stops at West Glacier (Belton), and in the summer it stops a East
Glacier and Essex (if requested). |
Weather in Flathead ValleyThe image at right shows the current weather conditions for our valley. We don't know what it is right now, but it must be perfect, we're in Montana. In the summer, temperatures range in the 60’s and 70’s and nighttime temps in the 40’s are typical. However, daytime highs can reach 100 degrees F and overnight lows can drop to near 20's. Snow is always a possibility... |
