The fire burned at least 22,200 acres by Sunday, and was
expected to cover more... The Red Eagle fire — fueled by extremely dry

Stage 1 fire restrictions in effect
Effective July 31st, due to a rash of fire-starts on the
Kootenai National Forest and ongoing hot, dry weather have led to fire
restrictions that will be imposed Monday across Northwest Montana. Local,
state and federal fire managers made the decision Tuesday to implement Stage
I fire restrictions for the Flathead and Kootenai national forests, Glacier
National Park, Montana Department of Natural Resource lands, and Flathead,
Lake, Lincoln and Sanders counties.

Going to the Sun Road is OPEN!!!
(06/24/06) WEST GLACIER - Glacier National Park's premier
alpine roadway has - with the help of hard-working snowplow crews -
finally shaken off winter's white, opening for motorists over scenic
Logan Pass. The Going-to-the-Sun Road, a precipitous route literally tacked
to cliffs beneath the Continental Divide, is expected to fully open Friday
at 4 p.m., linking for the first time in eight months park entrances at West
Glacier and St. Mary.

danger from climate change signals a need for greater study of the climate
issue, a U.N. committee says.

State griz plan would move some bruins to Cabinet-Yaaks
Call it the share a bear plan.
Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has released a state grizzly bear
management plan that would continue to take grizzlies from other regions,
including the Glacier Park area and augment populations in the Cabinet and
Yaak area near Libby and Troy.

Federal money coming to Glacier National Park
It looks like a famous road in Glacier National Park will be
receiving some federal money after all. $50 million in a House
transportation bill slated for critical repairs to the Going-to-the-Sun
Highway.
