Where to stay
If "roughing it" in a tent is not your idea of
a vacation, Glacier offers a number of lodging alternatives from cozy cabins
to luxurious suites with all the amenities. Here's what's waiting for you
inside the park...
Lake McDonald Lodge
Lake
McDonald Lodge is located approximately 11 miles from the west entrance to
the park on the Going-to-the Sun Road. Originally it was a hunting lodge
built by John Lewis in 1913. This complex is overloaded with history. Mr.
Lewis was a furrier and collected the hunting trophies still on display in
the lobby. Charles Russell, the famous western artist drew the pictographs
hanging on the massive stone fireplace in the Lodge. Dining facilities
at the complex include Russell's Fireside Dining Room, Stockade Lounge,
Jammer Joe's Grill & Pizzeria, gift shop and camp store.
Village Inn at Apgar
Located
3 miles inside Glacier National Park’s west entrance in the village of
Apgar, Village Inn at Apgar is placed right on the shore of Lake McDonald.
The views from this motor inn are majestic! Apgar is a great family location
where the offerings are a shimmering lake and the mountain panorama forming
the “Crown of the Continent”. Transportation to and from the West Glacier
(Belton) Train Station: for a nominal charge, transportation is available
between Village Inn at Apgar and West Glacier (Belton) Train Station.

Many Glacier Hotel
Located
12 miles west of Babb, MT in the northeast corner of Glacier National Park
and 1 mile from Swiftcurrent Motor Inn, Many Glacier Hotel is located in the
“Switzerland of North America”. The hotel rests on the shore of Swiftcurrent
Lake in the heart of Glacier National Park. The Great Northern Railroad
built this historic hotel in 1915. Many Glacier Hotel boasts a true Swiss
atmosphere with alpine beauty that surrounds the five-story building.
Rising Sun Motor Inn
Located
6 miles west of St. Mary Visitor’s Center along the Going-to-the-Sun Road
inside Glacier National Park, Rising Sun Motor Inn is situated across the
road from picturesque St. Mary Lake. With cottage and motor inn
accommodations, Rising Sun Motor Inn is one of the most popular locations
for visitors who seek a centralized location, peaceful surroundings and
panoramic views of mountains, sky and water.
Swiftcurrent Motor Inn
Located
12 miles west of Babb, MT in the northeast corner of Glacier National Park
and one mile from Many Glacier Hotel, Swiftcurrent Motor Inn is a hiker’s
paradise. It also has numerous trailheads for hiking trails leading to
magnificent destinations such as Swiftcurrent Pass, Iceberg Lake, and
Ptarmigan Tunnel. The name “Swiftcurrent” is thought to have come from the
Blackfeet term “Ikami-awaki-mishka” which means fast running water. The
accommodations are cozy and comfortable, perfect for the hiker, photographer
or family
East Glacier Park, Montana
Glacier Park Lodge
Located
on the eastern gateway of Glacier National Park in East Glacier Park, MT,
Glacier Park Lodge and Resort is a western theme lodge along main line of
the Burlington Northern Railroad. Huge Douglas fir pillars that are over 40
feet high and 40 inches in diameter form the supports in the impressive
lobby that welcomes you to the Lodge. The Blackfeet Indians, awed by the
size of the timbers called it "Omahkoyis", or Big Tree Lodge. With a heated
outdoor swimming pool, nine-hole golf course and close proximity to Glacier
National Park, Glacier Park Lodge is a wonderful Montana destination resort.
Waterton, Alberta
Prince of Wales Hotel
Located
in Waterton Lakes National Park in Alberta, Canada, the Prince of Wales
Hotel is one of the most photographed hotels in North America. A dramatic
curtain of the Canadian Rockies surrounds this stately hotel set high on a
bluff overlooking Waterton Lake and the town of Waterton. As part of the
Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park, this idyllic location just north
of the Canadian border gives the hotel an international flavor. This hotel,
named after Prince Edward, offers a traditional British atmosphere complete

St. Mary Lodge and Resort
The
Resort at Glacier in St. Mary,
Montana is one of the premier national park resorts in the country. It's the
first breathtaking site you'll see coming into Glacier National Park's east
entrance. Offering 117 rooms spread among seven different facilities, an

Main Lodge
The Main Lodge is part of the original complex, which was
built in 1932. The lodge offers 22 sleeping rooms located on two floors.
Rooms are nicely equipped with either one or two beds, a desk, table and
chair and air-conditioning. The lobby itself was recently renovated, and is
decorated with classic lodge décor, upscale artwork, a cozy fireplace and
relaxing seating area.
Great Bear Lodge
Opened in 2001, the Great Bear Lodge is the loveliest
addition to the Resort. Offering luxury rooms that feature large bathroom
with a shower/tub combo, wet bar area w/mini-fridge, hand sink and coffee
maker. Standard rooms have two queen beds sleeping up to four adults, and
each room comes with satellite TV and A/C. Rooms have great views. One-room
suites offer an expanded living area and gas fireplace, and Jacuzzi tubs in
the bathroom.
Guest Lodge
Located near the West Lodge, the Guest House includes two
bedrooms, a living room, kitchenette, satellite TV, air-conditioning and a
sleeper sofa. One of the nicest offerings at St. Mary Lodge, the Guest House
is perfect for families or for couples traveling together.
East Lodge
The East Lodge is a single story building offering 10
lodge-styled guestrooms. Each one features either or two queen beds, TVs,
air conditioning, a desk and chair.
West Lodge
Perfect for couples, the West Lodge features 24 guestrooms
in a single story building. Each room comes with one or two queen beds, and
is equipped with a TV, air conditioning, a desk and chair. Recently updated
finishing includes granite counter-tops and traditional lodge furnishings.
