General Park Information

Visitor Centers

Glacier Park Headquarters is open year-round, Monday - Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and you can call (406) 888-7800 for additional information. It is located near the Park entrance at West Glacier and accommodates the park's main offices.

Apgar Visitor Center is located two miles inside the park near Lake McDonald. Here you can find restrooms and exhibits about Glacier's plants and animals. This center is open from May through October and on weekends from November through April.

Logan Pass Visitor Center sits at the Logan Pass summit on Going-to-the-Sun Road. It is open from mid-June through mid-October. Here you can find a few exhibits on plants and animals, restrooms and a retail outlet for park publications.

Many Glacier Ranger Station is located adjacent to Many Glacier Campground and is open from mid-June to mid-September.

Polebridge Ranger Station is located in the park's northwest region off the outer North Fork Road. It is open intermittently from mid-June to mid-September.

St. Mary Visitor Center is centrally located visitor center on the east side of the park and is open from late May through mid-October.

Weather

Weather at these elevations is unpredictable. There is the possibility of warm sunshine or snow any day of the year. Snow is often seen in June, July and August. In the summer months, the days may get very warm (average July high is 77°F), but temperatures may dip below 50°F after the sun sets. Get current weather & forecast.

Late spring to early fall is the most popular time to visit Glacier, nonetheless lots of people enjoy winter trips. September is also a popular month because weather is usually comfortable and fall colors are abundant - and the summer crowds are gone.
