Fishing Glacier

Fish are abundant in most of Glacier's hundreds of lakes and streams.  The park has approximately 700 lakes of which many remain unnamed.  Some lakes are accessible by vehicle while others can only be reached by hiking.

Fishing in the park is free and no license is required. However, there are regulations governing fishing that need to be followed. Fishing season begins the third Saturday in May until November 30 (exceptions).

NOTICE
: As of January 1, 2004, the park is prohibiting use of all lead associated with fishing. Including weights, lures, jigs, etc. with the only exception being "downriggers" that use cannon ball lead weights of 2 to 10 pounds.
